GET IN MY BELLY... AND GET OUT

1. Country Pate 2. Pigg Style Fries 3. Ming Wings

I spent a full day in Los Angeles finding inspiration and ideas, which can only mean working up a huge appetite. For lunch, I tried UMAMIcatessen, and the food was horrible. Overrated, expensive, and definitely not worth my time and money. Originally, I wanted a sandwich with pate on it, but they didn't have it, so the waitress suggested the Country Pate, which was FAR FARRRR from what I wanted. Disappointed would be an understatement. I could of EASILY made that sandwich at home, thats how overrated it was. The upside, the Pigg Style Fries were okay--who can really mess up on a fries dish? The downsize? 10 big ones for that side order. Even though I do appreciate UMAMI's modern approach and trying to create interesting concepts, however, I would not recommend this place simply because it's just plain bad!

On a lighter note, for dinner, we stopped by The Far Bar for a quick bite. I'm really into tapas style dishes--it  gives me the opportunity to try many different plates instead of just one big entry. The ambiance is really beautiful there, romantic christmas lights brighten up the patio area creating a soothing atmosphere. Upon the many things I tried, the Ming Wings were a great hit. Crispy skin, dry rubbed, and a whole lot of flavor. Yum and yum.
